Sang-Jun receives the Best Paper Award at KCC2026!
We are pleased to announce that Sang-Jun Park, an undergraduate intern at SATA Lab, has received the Best Paper Award in the Undergraduate/Junior Paper Competition at the 2026 Korea Computer Congress (KCC 2026), organized by the Korean Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers.
His award-winning paper, “Runtime Rule Lifecycle Management Framework for 100GbE FPGA-Based Network Packet Inspection Systems,” presents an FPGA-based framework that treats packet-inspection rules as runtime data, enabling rule installation, activation, query, update, deactivation, and rollback without FPGA resynthesis or partial reconfiguration. Its on-chip double-bank rule store allows a new rule version to be validated and activated atomically while the current rule version continues to serve the packet-inspection datapath.
The prototype was implemented on an AMD/Xilinx Alveo U50 and configured to support 64K normalized rules. It achieves an FPGA-side image-loading time of 11.4 ms and an atomic rule-activation latency of approximately 15 μs, while the management logic consumes only 1.18% of LUTs and 0.83% of registers.
We are extremely proud of Sang-Jun’s dedication, persistence, and growth throughout this research. As his advisor, it is especially rewarding to see his efforts recognized through this achievement.
