SATA Lab received a generous donation from AMD!

We’re grateful to AMD for the generous donation of an Xilinx Alveo U50 datacenter accelerator card to our lab!

Datacenter-class but mid-range FPGA infrastructure is essential for translating architectural ideas into real, measurable system impact, especially as modern workloads become increasingly constrained by data movement, irregularity, and end-to-end bottlenecks rather than raw compute alone. The Alveo U50 will strengthen our ability to prototype and evaluate domain-specific, system-aware acceleration across a range of applications, including network security (IPS/IDS), graph neural network, SAT solving, and large-scale genomics computing.

We’re excited to use this platform to explore new hardware–software co-designs and practical heterogeneous systems that deliver both high performance and energy efficiency at scale.

Thank you again to AMD for supporting academic research and helping advance industry–academia collaboration! 😄
